Julia Newman
Managing Director Communications & Engagement
Julia hails from Cleveland, Ohio, where she grew up exploring the region's metroparks and watching the sun set over Lake Erie. While earning her graduate degree in Urban Planning from Cleveland State University, Julia managed a youth education and workforce development program on urban farms. Her interest in local food, urban agriculture, and how these tools can be used to engage and educate people on broader equity and sustainability issues inspired her to work directly in the sustainability field.
Prior to joining Lotus, Julia managed sustainability programs for a local government in the Denver Metro Region, where she collaborated across local jurisdictions to provide access to sustainability resources and implement policies that would drive change. Julia was thrilled to join the Lotus team in 2017 and support our diverse clients through projects that create meaningful change. In order for sustainability policies to have the impact we desire, community buy-in and involvement is crucial. With this in mind, Julia has led the growth of Lotus’ Communications and Engagement team to include diverse skill sets and perspectives that ensure that our partners’ and clients’ needs are heard, understood, and met throughout Lotus’ projects.
